This README file contains information specific to the APPLE Macintosh Mac OS X versions of ANA, AVE and ROD. See the README.txt for general information on the programs and INSTALL.UNIX for the installation information (which is also relevant for the APPLE Macintosh). As the Macintosh Mac OS X now runs on two different hardware platforms (Intel i386 and PowerPC), there are two different versions of ANAROD for the Macintosh. The corresponding operating system designations for ANAROD are "darwin_i386" and "darwin_PowerPC". In both cases, to be able to install ANAROD on the Macintosh you need to install some software first: 1. the Apple developer tools (http://developer.apple.com/) 2. install the fink packages (http://fink.sf.net) 3. install PGPLOT with fink (fink install pgplot) PGPLOT is always needed. The Apple developer tools are only required if you want to compile and link ANAROD yourself instead of using the precompiled version. For the rest of the installation, follow the instructions in INSTALL.UNIX.
