XOP 2.11 FOR UNIX (Installation notes)
               ======================================

Supported platforms (minimum release) and XOP file to install:
--------------------------------------------------------------

    IBM Intel x86 Linux ( kernel >= 2.2) : xop2.11_Linux.tar.gz
    SUN SPARC Solaris 8,9                : xop2.11_Solaris.tar.gz
    APPLE PowerMac G4 OSX 10.2.x         : xop2.11_Darwin.tar.gz
    HP PA-RISC 32-bit HP-UX 11.0         : xop2.11_hp.tar.gz
    SGI Mips 32-bit IRIX 6.5.1           : xop2.11_sgi.tar.gz
    


Installation instructions:
--------------------------

	1) Download the file to the root directory where
	you want to install xop 
	example:
	  cd /users/me/programs
	  cp /cdrom/Install-Unix/xop2.11_Linux.tar.gz .
	2) extract the files (a directory called xop2.1 will be created)
	  <> Linux: tar xvfz xop2.11_<arch>.tar.gz 
	  <> Unix: gunzip xop2.11_<arch>.tar.gz 
                   tar xvf xop2.11_<arch>.tar
	3) Change directory to the new created directory and edit
	the script file "xop". Place your installation path in the
	environment variable "XOP_HOME"
	4) run xop by entering:
	  ./xop
	5) If wanted, include the xop directory (or a link to the
	xop script) in your path.
        6) For installing one or more XOP extensions, once you have
        installed XOP see the Extensions directory.
