This is the README of the XOP extension "topo" Definitions: ============ "XOP" : A multiplatform graphical user interface for synchrotron radiation spectral and optics calculations. For more info, see: http://www.esrf.fr/computing/expg/subgroups/theory/idl/xop/xop.html "XOP extension" is a software package which is not part of the XOP installation, but it can be installed optionally and run under the XOP interface. TOPO: ===== TOPO is a program to perform analysis on profiles and surfaces written by David L. Windt (windt@bell-labs.com) To install and run TOPO under XOP, you should get the standard distribution from D. Windt (see http://www.bell-labs.com/user/windt/idl and then reproduce the structure described in this file in your $XOP_HOME/extensions directory. installation and customization of TOPO for XOP-EMBEDDED ======================================================== 1) Download the TOPO package 2) Copy the files to reproduce the following structure in the "extensions" directory of your local XOP installation: $XOP_HOME/extensions/xtopo.sav [file from this aftp directory] $XOP_HOME/extensions/topo/topo.html [file from this aftp directory] $XOP_HOME/extensions/topo/topositeconfig.pro [file from this aftp directory = customization of the original one] $XOP_HOME/extensions/topo/topositeconfig.pro [file from this aftp dir] $XOP_HOME/extensions/topo/topo.bat [file from this aftp directory] $XOP_HOME/extensions/topo/topo_5 [file from TOPO package] $XOP_HOME/extensions/topo/wyko_example.dat [file from TOPO package] [under windows, read %XOP_HOME% insteed of $XOP_HOME and \ instead of /] 3) Start TOPO by either Under Unix: a) type at the Unix prompt xop xtopo b) From the main XOP window, select Tools|IDL Macro, empty the window, type "xtopo" on it and exit using "Quit and accept changes" Under Windows (it is very important NOT to split the command lines!): a) double click on file c:\xop\xtopo.bat (you may create a shortcut to start it from the Menu Bar) b) From the main XOP window, select Tools|IDL Macro, empty the window, type "xtopo" on it and exit using "Quit and accept changes"
